Jim Nicol Biography
Jim Nicol is the Chief of Staff to the City Manager. Prior to joining the City of Regina, Jim worked for the Government of Saskatchewan as the Assistant Deputy Minister for the Department of Labour.
Jim was born and raised in Saskatchewan. He completed his BA in 1985 and his BComm in 1988 from the University of Saskatchewan. Jim always aspired to work in the public sector so accepted an offer without hesitations at the Treasury Board in Regina right out of University.
Jim’s entire career has been spent with the Government of Saskatchewan. In 1990, he was seconded to Cabinet as the Cabinet Liaison Officer for Executive Council, then moved into the Policy Advisor position in the Policy & Planning Secretariat. In 1994, Jim accepted the position of Executive Assistant to the Deputy Minister to the Premier, a position he held for four years before becoming the Director of Senior Management Services with Executive Council. In 2003, Jim accepted the role of Assistant Deputy Minister for the Department of Labour, his most recent position.
Jim’s career has been dedicated to public service; a chosen path that he thrives in and continues to promote.
