Understand your pension plan

The Regina Civic Employees' Superannuation and Benefit Plan is a defined benefit pension plan which provides eligible members with a retirement income based on a formula that takes into account the member's earning history and length of service in the plan.

 

Some of the benefits of belonging to the plan include:

  • a lifetime monthly pension based on the average of your highest 3 consecutive years of earnings and years of service
  • normal retirement at age 65
  • early retirement at age 55 or 35 years of service (any age)
  • optional forms of pension
  • bridge benefit payable from early retirement to age 65
  • guaranteed annual indexation of the monthly pension (one-half of the increase in the Consumer Price Index, with a maximum increase of 4.25% in any one year)
  • termination benefits
  • death benefits (before and after retirement)
  • portability options
  • continued accumulation of service while on disability

The Regina Civic Employees’ Superannuation and Benefit Plan is reviewed by a qualified actuary at least every 3 years and is subject to the requirements of Saskatchewan Pension Benefits Act and The Income Tax Act.
