Finished Basement

You will need to obtain a building permit if you plan to alter or finish your basement. Your finished basement must comply with all zoning bylaw standards, fire safety, building standards regulations, and building codes .

To apply:

You will need to submit the following information with your completed building permit application:

• 2 copies of the floor plans drawn to scale with metric dimensions
• Proposed layout of the room(s) in your basement
• Designation of the use and dimensions of the proposed rooms
• Details of structural changes, if proposed
• Window sizes and ceiling heights
• Permit fee
• All permits required for electrical or gas work (new connections/lines or changes to existing connections/lines). Contact SaskPower for inspections and permits for gas or electrical work.
