Learn About Bylaw Enforcement

Bylaw Enforcement’s mandate is to promote, facilitate and enforce general compliance with the provisions of bylaws that pertain to the health, safety and welfare of the community.

For example, officers enforce bylaws like the misuse of private and public property, intersection sight lines, motorized vehicles in our parks, and many, many more.

The City’s property standards inspectors are responsible for investigating:

  • Minimum maintenance standards
  • Dilapidated structures
  • Dangerous unoccupied unsecured buildings
  • Untidy/unsightly properties
  • Junked vehicles
  • Unsafe properties
  • Alley litter (enforcement only, must be verified by eye witness statement)
