Brent Sjoberg Biography

Brent Sjoberg joined the City of Regina in 2007, after a 16-year career as a senior executive in the private sector. After several years as Regina’s Deputy City Manager & Chief Financial Officer, on January 1, 2014, Mr. Sjoberg moved into his current position as Deputy City Manager & Chief Operating Officer. In his current role as the Deputy City Manager, he supports the City Manager in the delivery of all significant organizational initiatives. As Chief Operating Officer, his responsibilities include leading over 2,000 staff in all customer-facing operational groups, while working to deliver a team-based approach to serving Regina’s citizens and businesses most effectively. 
 
Mr. Sjoberg was born in Moose Jaw and his formal education includes an Accounting Diploma from SIAST, the completion of his CMA designation, and an MBA from the University of Regina. Mr. Sjoberg is well respected in the business and financial community, and in 2012 received a provincial award from the Society of Management Accountants for his contributions to management accounting. Mr. Sjoberg has also taken an active role in contributing to the community, including serving on various non-profit and community boards. He is currently a board member of the United Way of Regina, and the Chair of its Audit & Risk Committee.
 
In addition to his duties as Deputy City Manager & COO, Mr. Sjoberg has assumed the role of Executive Lead for both the Regina Revitalization Initiative and Regina’s Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade. These projects represent two of the largest initiatives the City of Regina has ever undertaken, worth over $500 million in capital work and long term investments totalling almost $2 billion.
 
In 2012, Brent and his wife April, with the help of their children Courtney and Ethan, opened a new business in Regina: Clancy’s Meat Co. The Sjobergs are a true “I Love Regina” family and enjoy promoting and actively contributing to Regina’s success.
