First Aid Kit
Keep a first aid kit with your emergency kit. Many of the items in your first aid kit will be required in the event of a pandemic.
First aid kits can be purchased from your local store or you can create your own by storing the suggested items in a metal tin or plastic box:
- Adhesive bandages (Bandages should be sterile and come in assorted sizes)
- Adhesive tape
- Antiseptic
- Cleansing agent/soap
- Face masks
- First aid manual
- Latex gloves (2 pairs)
- Moistened towelettes
- Needle
- Non-prescription drugs: - antacids - anti-diarrhea medication - fluids with electrolytes - fever/cough medications - laxatives - pain relievers
- Pencil and paper
- Petroleum jelly or other lubricant
- Safety pins (various sizes)
- Scissors
- Sterile gauze pads (4 pads in both the 5 cm and 10 cm size)
- Sterile roller bandages (3 rolls in both the 5 cm and 7.5 cm width)
- Sunscreen
- Thermometer
- Triangular bandages
- Tongue depressors
- Tweezers
