Reduce, reuse, recycle, rethink, renew
It’s in everyone’s best interest to reduce their ecological footprint to help conserve dwindling natural resources and reduce the environmental impact our society creates.
To lower the amount of waste generated by your company or business, follow these tips to reduce, reuse, recycle, renew and rethink:
- Use only EnergyStar products where ever possible.
- Buy only what you need.
- Buy quality. Higher quality products may cost more but generally last much longer.
- Choose products with less packaging.
- Use rechargeable batteries.
- Consider purchasing environmentally-friendly energy (i.e. solar or wind power.)
- Take your own coffee mug or glass to work instead of using disposable cups.
- Read the online version of newspapers and magazines.
- Choose items that have been made from recycled goods, especially paper products.
- Photocopy or print information on both sides of the paper.
- Avoid printing unnecessary documents or e-mails; save them electronically.
- Donate building material, such as lumber, doors, bricks or windows to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore.
