View Early Regina Photographs
The City of Regina Archives photograph collection contains over 25,000 photographic prints, slides and negatives from the early 1880’s to the 1980’s. Many of these images were donated to the Archives by the Regina Public Library in 1992.
You can contact Archives to make an appointment to view their photographic collection and place an order for the image to be reprinted.

Built in 1921, the Capitol Theatre located on the corner of Scarth Street and 12th Avenue could seat 1,500 and was considered one of the finest theatres in the Canadian West. |

Knox Presbyterian Church, which stood on the corner of 12th Avenue and Lorne Street. It was built in 1906. Although the damage depicted here was quite severe, the building was repaired within a year. In 1995, Regina residents pulled together to throw one of the greatest Grey Cup parties that Canada had ever seen. Taylor Field was spruced up for the event and temporary grandstands were added to increase seating capacity by 20,000. |

The totem pole “Kwakiutl” that stands on the south shore of Wascana Lake was a gift from the First Nations of British Columbia to the City of Regina. It is named for the Kwakiutl people, a group of First Nations people who once were spread from northernmost Washington State to upper British Columbia. |
