License Your Dog
The City of Regina’s Animal Bylaw No. 2009-44 outlines your responsibilities if you own a dog within the city limits. The bylaw ensures you license your pet and helps to reduce the number of stray and nuisance animals in Regina.
Where to purchase a licence
You can purchase your stainless steel dog licence tag at City Hall (2476 Victoria Avenue), the Regina Humane Society or at your veterinarian clinic.
Cost of a dog licence
The cost of a dog licence is $100 a year but is reduced to $25 a year for:
- sterilized dogs (spayed/neutered)
- a puppy (under 6 months of age)
- a show dog (copy of entry form & receipt from dog show's secretary)
A replacement tag costs $5 if you lose the original licence tag.
My Pet Matters
The City of Regina has teamed up with the Leader-Post to bring this exciting new rewards program to the pet owners who license their dogs and cats each year. These responsible pet owners will receive a My Pet Matters Rewards Card in the mail following the purchase or renewal of their pet licence for 2012. With the My Pet Matters card, you can more than recover the cost of pet licensing through the discounts on products and services offered by our participating retailers.
Fines for unlicensed dogs
Failure to purchase a dog licence may result in a fine amount between $150 and $350.
