Sidewalk Snow Removal

Regina experiences an average of 116 cm of snowfall each year, which hinders pedestrian movement along sidewalks and driveways.

To ensure you can walk along sidewalks this winter, the Clean Property Bylaw No. 9881  has been updated and requires the following property owners shovel snow from their sidewalks:

  • Downtown properties All properties in Regina’s downtown to clear the sidewalk adjacent to their property of ice and snow within 24 hours of a storm.
  • Businesses, apartments, and vacant lots outside of downtown These property owners to clear the sidewalk adjacent to their property of ice and snow within 48 hours.

Sanding sidewalks

The City of Regina has set up sandboxes for residents who need sand to make the sidewalk in front of their house safe. In consideration of others, please take only what you need. Sandboxes are found at the following locations:

  • Albert Scott Community Centre
  • Al Ritchie Memorial Arena
  • Cathedral Neighbourhood Recreation Centre
  • Glencairn Neighbourhood Recreation Centre
  • Jack Hamilton Arena
  • Murray Balfour Arena
  • Northgate Mall
