Block Heater Cords Across Sidewalks
To ensure their vehicle can start on cold winter mornings, most people plug in their vehicle’s block heater. However, extension cords lying across or above sidewalks can pose a hazard to pedestrians.
Traffic Bylaw No. 9900 says you cannot place or leave any cord – including an extension cord – across, above, or on any sidewalk or public highway or even use the cord to plug into your vehicle if it is parked on a street.
