Reasons for municipal boundary alteration

In February 2007, the City hired consultants to determine the long-term industrial land needs for Regina. The Industrial Growth Study identified industrial land requirements for the City of Regina over the next 20+ years. The study identified preferred areas for the projected industrial growth based on supporting infrastructure, serviceability and other factors.

The alteration of municipal boundaries is required to secure the long-term industrial development needs of the City of Regina. The City’s interest is in ensuring the orderly, planned long-term development of the community. Bringing the lands under the City’s jurisdiction will enable the City to plan for the efficient and comprehensive extension of municipal infrastructure, and it will allow for the City to regulate development in these areas to complement the long-term growth strategy.
