Bed & Breakfast (homestay)

You must apply for approval to establish a bed and breakfast (homestay) in an owner-occupied dwelling unit. The regulations for bed and breakfasts are designed to:

• ensure compatibility with the character of established residential neighbourhoods
• increase the viability of neighbourhoods
• increase the capacity of the City to host major events by increasing public accommodation facilities

Read the bed and breakfast homestay instruction package  before applying for a development permit.

If you are successful

The zoning of your property will not change; the permit will simply allow you to operate the bed and breakfast from your dwelling.

You will need to complete a Business Licence Application Form, as a bed and breakfast is considered a home based business.

If you wish to place a sign on your property advertising your bed and breakfast, you will also need to complete and submit a sign permit.
