Water safety at work
Companies and businesses need to know where the cross connections are in their buildings. If these cross connections can't be eliminated, City bylaws require the installation of backflow prevention devices to protect the water supply.
City staff working for the Cross Connection Control Program will:
- help identify where cross connections occur in your workplace
- discuss what action needs to be taken at your workplace (this may involve a plumber and plumbing permit)
- send a reminder letter to your companies or businesses to ensure the cross connection control device has been checked by a certified tester for the current year (testers may charge a fee for this service)
- conduct inspections to ensure compliance to the bylaw
If you require any information on inspections or for any cross connection inquiries, please call 306-777-7000.
