Hernani’s design will incorporate single-use plastics and other recycled materials to produce a multi-sensory exhibit that will be enjoyed by those who visit the City facility for future educational programs. The art piece will share a message of the positive impact waste reduction can make on the environment.
“My inspiration was to focus on this idea of having Saskatchewan grasslands and agricultural fields instead of a field of plastic. As we constantly use and dispose of plastic in our daily lives, we are contributing to this increase of plastic in our cities, our province, and in the world. The art piece reminds us of the positive impact reducing our plastics use can have on the natural environment.” – Bruno Hernani

Donate Materials to the Project
Thank you to all the residents who donated materials to help bring this project to life. Residents donated a variety of plastic bottles and wooden doors and frames which will be used in the final work.
Seeing the Completed Work
Hernani also plans to livestream his process as he begins installation work in mid-November 2021. The art installation is scheduled to be complete before the end of December. It will welcome Waste Management Centre visitors that come to tour the interactive waste and water learning space that’s expected to open in 2022.
