2012 Municipal Heritage Award winners announced

In recognition of National Heritage Day and Heritage Week in Saskatchewan, the
Municipal Heritage awards were presented at tonight’s City Council meeting.

Mayor Pat Fiacco and Councillor Fred Clipsham, Council Liaison to the Regina Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee, presented recipients with their awards.

  • Aaron and Naomi Lynn and Charles Pirie received an award in the Preservation category for the Mulligan Residence at 2022 Retallack Street.
  • Sandra Bingaman was presented with an award in the Education category for authoring and producing the book Storm of the Century: The Regina Tornado of 1912.
  • Suzanne Pambrun, Garth Pugh, Wayne Zelmer, Frank Korvemaker, Murray Miller, Marlon Janzen, Liberty Brears, Peter Lang and the Honourable Bill Hutchinson also received an award in the Education category for the Saskatchewan Heritage Foundation Heritage Conservation Bulletin Series.

The Municipal Heritage Awards Program was established in 1984 to recognize individuals or organizations that have enhanced the quality of life in Regina by demonstrating commitment to the conservation of Regina’s heritage. The awards presentation is held annually at the City Council meeting closest to National Heritage Day, the third Monday of February.
