City of Regina launches its online Cultural Map

October 6, 2011

After a week celebrating the rich variety of cultural offerings in Regina during national Culture Days, the City of Regina concludes the week with the launch of a new online virtual map that highlights the many cultural resources and organizations in our community. The map provides information on over 119 organizations and 176 venues/sites including art galleries, designated heritage properties, public art sites, cultural head offices, creative industries and performance venues. The map will also grow and change to reflect the growth of Regina's cultural community. The resource is valuable to visitors and residents alike.

"The cultural map serves as a user friendly snap shot of the variety of cultural activity happening in our capital city," said Glenn Gordon, the City's Coordinator, Arts, Culture & Film. "It both informs and connects the community to sites, organizations and information which will help increase access to and knowledge of the rich cultural fabric that is Regina."

The process started with a workshop that took place in September 2010 encouraging individuals and organizations from Regina's cultural community to get involved. The content for the map was gathered in an online survey with significant response.
