New bus route proposed for Harbour Landing

February 13, 2012

The City of Regina is proposing an innovative new bus route for Harbour Landing that will be delivered according to community needs.

The proposed route will gather residents in the area and bring them to a central transfer point to connect with other buses to take them to work, school or leisure activities. This type of route marks a change for Regina Transit and could reflect the way future transit service is provided.

The proposed route runs from Walmart along Harbour Landing Drive and Parliament Avenue to Golden Mile. It will run along 25th Avenue temporarily, until Parliament Avenue construction is complete.

To be as efficient as possible, the route will be delivered via a minibus and will be offered during the busiest times of day. It will run from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Residents are welcome to share feedback on the proposed route at an information session at the South Leisure Centre on February 23 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. or by calling 777-7000.

The City is currently reviewing all transit routes with the intention of developing a better transit system. Recommendations from the route review will go to City Council in 2013.
