Call centres to use new technology
The City of Regina’s main customer call centre will implement a new software system featuring Interactive Voice Recognition (IVR) on December 7, 2011. The City will be using this new software which will speed up call waiting times and provide information options to better serve its customers.
Christmas tree drop-off depots open January 7
After the holidays are over, treecycle your old Christmas tree by taking it to one of five drop-off locations located throughout the city. The City is treecycling by collecting Christmas trees and recycling them to produce mulch. The mulch will be offered to residents in the spring as part of the City’s Tinsel Mulch Program.
Families invited to Tree of Memories ceremony at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery
Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery, located at 815 E Assiniboine Avenue, will be holding its third annual Tree of Memories Ceremony in front of the Administration Office at the southwest corner of the cemetery on Wednesday, December 7 starting at 7 p.m.
Investigators Determine Cause of Sunday’s House Fire
Fire investigators have determined that Sunday afternoon’s house fire at 1901 Winnipeg Street was caused by an unattended hot plate left plugged into an electrical outlet in the basement.
City of Regina announces proposed budgets for 2012
The City of Regina’s proposed 2012 capital and operating budgets and the Water & Sewer Utility budget are now available and will be tabled at City Council on November 21.
The Métis Nation flag has a permanent home in front of Regina’s City Hall. For the first time in Canadian history a Métis Nation flag will permanently fly in front of a major municipal government building.

In consideration of the safety and comfort of customers and staff, the City of Regina will not permit Occupy Regina members to protest in the City Hall building.

Last night, City Council chose to keep the City Square plaza pedestrian-only until a study of transportation in the downtown is completed next spring.

City crews and equipment ready for winter
The first snowfall of the 2011/2012 season is expected this weekend. City staff are assigned to winter operations and will be available to respond this weekend. Equipment has been prepared for winter operations and is available for this weekend. Snow fencing will continue to be installed over the next couple of weeks.
