Help Guide To Search For Your Property

You search for a property's assessment and taxation record by:

  • Address or account number
  • Assessed value
  • Using the interactive map

You can also view a list of property sales from your valuation neighbourhood from your assessment record.

Search by Address or Account Number:

Select the "property search" link from the Assessment & Taxation web page or click the "Property Search" link under Related Information, on this page.

  1. Using your mouse, choose either the "Search by Street Address" or "Search by Account Number" field.
  2. Searching By Address
    1. Enter your address in the Address field. You can enter as much of your address as you are able, but it can also find using partial information. e.g. Entering "2476 Vic" would return the account for 2476 Victoria Avenue.
    2. The address search function uses the following structure and order: Suite Number, Suite Name, House Number, Street Direction, Street Name. If you enter your address information in a different order, it will be unable to locate your account.
    3. Extra spaces entered within the address field may prevent the search from finding your property.
    4. Hit Enter on your keyboard or click on the "Search" button to call up the property's assessment and taxation record.
  3. Searching By Account Number
    1. Type in your account number in the Account Number field. This number is found on your tax notice or your Notice of Assessment
    2. Hit Enter on your keyboard or click on the "Search" button to call up the property's assessment and taxation record.
  4. To search for other assessment and taxation records, follow the steps listed under 2 and 3 above.
  5. Select the "Property Map" button on the assessment and taxation record to see the property's location on an interactive map. After viewing the map, you can return to the assessment and taxation record by clicking on the property's address on the map and selecting the Account Number link at the bottom of the screen.

Search by Assessed Value:

  1. Select the "property search" link from the Assessment & Taxation web page or click the "Property Search" link under Related Information, on this page.
  2. Under Search by Assessed Value section or under the Related Information menu on the right side of your screen, choose the appropriate property class you wish to search for (commercial, multiple family residential, residential or condominium).
  3. For residential properties, you can view the City map by clikcing on the "Use Map" link. Click on the shaded neighbourhood where your property is located. This will automatically fill the Valuation Neighbourhood Field. For commercial, condominium, or multiple-family residential properties, scroll through the first drop-down menu to choose the property type that you are searching.
  4. Scroll through the next drop-down menu to choose the value range closest to the fair value assessment of the property.
  5. Click on the search button to call up a list of properties which match the characteristics you have chosen.
  6. Click on an address to call up the assessment and taxation record for that property. Properties are sorted by value.
  7. Repeat to view other assessment and taxation records.

Search using the interactive map:

  1. Select the "property search" link from the Assessment & Taxation web page or click the "Property Search" link under Related Information, on this page.
  2. Select the "Launch Map" button.
  3. An interactive GIS map will appear on your screen. Hold your left mouse button down and drag your mouse to move the map around. Double click on an area to zoom in on where you have clicked. Repeat until the desired property is shown on map.
  4. Once the desired property is shown, use your mouse to select the property, with a single click. The address of the property, its Assessed Value and its Account Number will appear on the bottom of the map screen.
  5. Click on the Account Number link to view that property's assessment and taxation record. You can return to the map from the assessment and taxation record by selecting the "Property Map" button.

Search using list of sales:

  1. Call up your property's online assessment and taxation record.
  2. Scroll down the screen and click on the "Sales & Statistics" button (found below your property information).
  3. A new screen will appear listing the City-wide, market area, and valuation neighbourhood sale statistics. You can compare the information found on your assessment and taxation record to the statistics shown on this page.
  4. Click on the "View Sales" button near the bottom of this page to view a list of the sales in your valuation neighbourhood that were used in calculating your property's assessment.
  5. You can select any address to view its assessment and taxation record and compare it to your own property.
