Bylaw related to heritage properties   The Heritage Property Bylaw

The Heritage Property Bylaw No. 8912 was established to authorize the City to deny any permit for alteration and/or demolition of property that City Council wishes to designate as Municipal Heritage Property.  

Overview:

  • Pursuant to The Heritage Property Act, S.S. 1980, Chapter H-2.2 Part III, City Council shall consider if it is necessary to preserve and develop the heritage characteristics of designated heritage properties.
  • City Council authorizes the Executive Director of City Planning & Development, or his or her designate, to deny any permit for alteration and/or demolition within 60 days from the date of permit submission.
  • Refer to Schedule A for a list of potential heritage properties.
