Go to the Landfill

The City of Regina landfill is located on Fleet Street, north of McDonald Street in the city’s northeast quadrant.
 

Current status

Monday, June 23 - The Landfill tipping area is still extremely muddy and closed to small commercial vehicles and trailers, you may still use the bins at the transfer station but must unload by hand. As well no semi loads of garbage/rubble will be accepted at this point in time.

They are accepting all loads of dirt.


Hours of operation 

Entry gates will close 15 minutes before end of day to allow vehicles to dispose of loads and exit by closing time.

April to October:

  • 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. daily
  • Closed Good Friday

November to March:

  • 7 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Monday to Saturday
  • Closed Sundays and Christmas Day
     

Acceptable materials

The landfill accepts a range of materials, including commercial and residential waste, some special wastes (with appropriate permits), soil materials from excavations and recoverable materials such as concrete, asphalt and appliances. Below is a table of the applicable landfill fees. The landfill accepts cash only. All commercial customers disposing of waste must follow the Landfill Tipping Area policy.

  • No foreign material
  • Lumps less than 600 mm (2') in size
  • Sod less than 150mm (6") in size up to 5 per cent of the load

Crushed granite
  • Pieces must be no larger than 12"x 12" (1 ft x 1ft)
  • Any loads with larger pieces will be charged $75/ tonne

Materials requiring special handling

  •  Acceptable materials include: cables, frost/ chain link fencing, loose dust, grain, noxious loads, commercial vacuum vehicles, coke dust, dead animals, bulky waste and other materials as determined by the Manager of Landfill Operations 

Up to $250 surcharge per load plus tonnage rate

 Private vehicle rate

  • All small private vehicles (cars, ¼ ton, ½ ton and ¾ ton vehicles including vehicles with trailers not larger than 4 feet by 8 feet) with no commercial markings, disposing of household waste from their own residence, will pay the private vehicle rate.
  • All private vehicles with trailers larger than 4 feet by 8 feet will pay a charge of $75/ tonne.

 Refrigerant Removal

  • There will be a charge of $10.00/item for recovery/disposal of residential items containing CFCs/refrigerants (examples of this include refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, water coolers). This charge is in addition to the private vehicle rate.
  • Charges will be applied whether refrigerant has been removed or not (unless proof that a qualified professional has already removed the refrigerant is produced).
  • This service is available to residential loads only. Commercial quantities of refrigerant containing items will not be accepted.
  • Large commercial appliances (e.g. industrial sized freezers) will not be accepted.
  • Another option for recycling your old refrigerator is to use SaskPower's refrigerator recycling program.

Please ensure the garbage you are taking to the landfill is properly secured and tarped or you may be fined $50 according to Regina Clean Property Bylaw No. 9881, section 4.
