Curbside Recycling
Curbside recycling also refers to properly line collection. Depending on how your block is designed, recycling will be picked up in front of your house or from your back alley. Generally where your garbage is picked up now is where your recycling will be picked up in the future.
Curbside recycling is coming to Regina in the fall of 2013. At that time, single-family households will receive a recycling rollout cart with collection service. The rollout carts will resemble the garbage rollout carts that are already in use many parts of the city. Curbside recycling is a user pay system, and therefore, every household receiving this service will pay a user fee. While the City of Regina is currently exploring options for delivering this service, we estimate the fee will cost each household $8-10 per month.
Recycling services will expand to include multi-family residences (e.g. apartments and condos) in 2015.
Our recycling service will use a co-mingled system, where all accepted recycling materials are placed into one cart and sorted at a recycling facility.
The Big Blue Bins will remain available for paper recycling throughout the City until the universal recycling service is in place for all sizes of households. Once this is complete, we will re-evaluate the role of our Big Blue Bins.

Next steps The City wants to ensure our new recycling service will benefit Regina for years to come. While we are exploring the best way to deliver new services, we are also finalizing other details of the program, including:
- Cost of user fees - Method for billing - Placement of recycling carts - Frequency of recycling pick-up - Service providers, whether City or private sector, for collecting and processing
The City expects to have answers for these questions by the end of the year.
