May 2008 Survey
In May 2008, the City of Regina hired Insightrix Research to conduct a survey of 1000 residents to learn their opinions and beliefs about household waste and recycling.
The presentation below illustrates some results from that survey and supporting data about current Regina waste practices:

May 2008 survey indicated public believes most waste comes from residents, not businesses and institutions. |

In 2006, business & institutional waste accounted for over half of garbage in Regina while residents generated 32%. Only 14% of waste was diverted from the landfill. |

Nearly 40% of residential waste consists of organics, followed by paper products (26%). These 2 categories represent almost two-thirds of the residential waste stream. |
