Mosaic Stadium Study

This year-long study will research the attitudes and habits of both residents and businesses concerning garbage (also referred to as solid waste.) Once the research is completed, this information will be used to develop a solid waste management plan that will:

  • Ensure excellent public service to the community
  • Identify practices and processes to collect, dispose and reduce/divert waste from residential, industrial, commercial and institutional owners
  • Balance program affordability with public acceptance and expectations
  • Emphasize the “5 Rs”: refuse, reduce, reuse, renew and recycle

As part of the process, over the next year Waste Plan Regina will answer the following questions:

  • How much and what types of wastes are being disposed of in the landfill?
  • How much could be recycled or reused? How?
  • How can we recycle and reuse more waste materials while maintaining public health, safety and affordability?
  • Is there a role for the City in such areas as recycling or composting?
  • Do residents want the City to do more, with the realization that there will be added costs? Do they want to do more themselves?
  • How will we pay for City of Regina Solid Waste services and programs in the future?
