Find Out If You Own a Heritage Property
The City maintains a list of about 300 potential heritage properties protected against demolition or significant change under a 60-day holding period. This allows the City to assess the heritage merits of the property and review alternatives to demolition.
As well, there are about 60 designated heritage properties in Regina that are protected against demolition or significant change, whether it is the entire property or specific heritage features such as the façade. These properties are designated following the regulations listed in the Saskatchewan Heritage Property Act .
If you want to restore your heritage property, you must obtain a building permit and demonstrate that the proposed changes will not affect its heritage value. To help you with your restoration, read the Regina Heritage Design Guidelines (Note: Large file over 2 MB which may take some time to download.)
