2017 Playground Upgrades

Rick Hansen Optimist Playground

The City is replacing the safety surfacing around the swings at Rick Hansen Optimist Playground (1010 McCarthy Boulevard). The old rubber tiles will be removed, and new poured-in-place rubber surfacing will be installed. The affected area will be closed to the public during construction which is expected to be completed before the end of August.

Hudson Park and Mable Brown Park

The City of Regina will be upgrading the play structures in Hudson Park (3890 Parliament Avenue) and Mable Brown Park (255 Mikkelson Drive). As part of the playground replacement process, the City asked for feedback from the community.  Earlier this year, area residents were invited to complete a survey regarding the type of play elements they’d like to see at each park. The results of these surveys were analyzed and used to inform the final playground design.

The existing swings and sand box at Hudson Park will remain, and only the wooden structure will be replaced at Mable Brown Park.

Construction is anticipated to start in mid-to-late September. The parks will be closed to the public during construction.

Below are the final concept plans for each playground.
