PlayEscapes

What is PlayEscapes?

playPlayEscapes is a FREE and inclusive summer drop-in program offered by the City of Regina. The program offers leader-facilitated play opportunities that develop and foster life skills, creativity, imagination, positive self-image and promote a physically active lifestyle. Self-directed play is the key to the PlayEscapes program. Children engage in play they select by themselves and are encouraged to explore and discover activities they enjoy.

Who can attend? PlayEscapes is for all children entering Kindergarten (must be 5 years old by December 31, 2017) through Grade 7. PlayEscapes welcomes children and youth of all abilities. Due to the high number of participants, we ask that the individuals requiring 1-1 support/assistance please bring a support person/attendant.

When will it take place? The program will run Monday - Friday, July 5 to August 11, 2017.  There will be no program on Monday, August 7.

What time will the program run? Program hours are 9:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Please note: There is no supervision over the lunch hour. All children are required to leave the site during lunch time. The City of Regina partners with Regina Education and Action on Child Hunger (REACH) to offer a take home lunch program at some of the sites.

How to register? Participant Information Forms are available on site the first day of the program or Regina.ca/playescapes. Parents are advised to visit the sites closest to them and fill out the forms on July 5 or bring them to their chosen site on the first day of program.

Outdoor Site Information

North West Leisure Centre & Sandra Schmirler Sites

Welcome to PlayEscapes 2017!  This summer, we are beyond excited to be offering outdoor sites at the Sandra Schmirler Leisure Centre and North West Leisure Centre where your kids can enjoy sun, fun and plenty of splash! There will be access to indoors at certain times at both sites but as the greater part of the day will take place outside we would like to ensure your children are prepared for the summer conditions. Please make sure you send your child with a hat, sunscreen, bug spray, water bottle, and a snack (optional - nut free only). We will be providing a source of shade for the children and will have extra sunscreen, bug spray and water on hand to make ensure the children are properly hydrated throughout the day. We are looking forward to another fabulous summer! If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the program coordinator at 306-777-7146.
