Discounted monthly pass program
Since 2003, Regina Transit and Saskatchewan Ministry of Social Services have partnered to offer a discounted monthly pass program for eligible low-income earners in Regina.
Cost
City Council approved new transit fares at its meeting on June 22, 2009. As a result, the price of a Discount Monthly Pass will be increasing to $20 per month effective for the August pass and onwards. This is the first increase since the Discount Pass Program was implemented.
Discount R-Cards can be purchased at the Transit Information Centre or the Transit Operations Centre once your application has been approved and loaded at any Transit Agent.
Eligibility
Discounted monthly passes are available to people participating in one of the following 5 provincial government programs:
- Social Assistance
- Transitional Employment Allowance
- Saskatchewan Employment Supplement
- Provincial Training Allowance
- Saskatchewan Assured Income for Disability
Application forms
Application forms for the discounted monthly pass program are available from the Transit Information Centre or your case worker. You will be asked for proof on your participation in one of the above 5 provincial government programs and for personal identification when you apply.
Only immediate family members identified on the application form will be able to purchase a discounted monthly pass.
Discount Transit Pass Update: July 1st-August 19th, 2012
During our annual Discount Transit Pass update, Regina Transit requests a June or July Government cheque stub or recent letter on provincial Government letterhead. The Government cheque stub or letter must state the applicant is receiving benefits under one of the five eligible programs.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR 2012
- All Discount Transit Pass users must visit the Transit Information Centre (2124 11th Ave) to purchase their pass(es) from July 1st - August 19th, 2012 with their confirmation.
- During this time Discount Transit Pass users will not be able to re-load any passes from other Transit Agents.
- If eligibility is not verified at the Transit Information Centre before August 20th, 2012 applicants will not be permitted to re-load their R-Card and will be removed from the Discount Transit Pass Program.
