Height and Spread Russian Almonds are a suckering shrub that grows 0.5 to 1.5 metres in height and may have a crown width of up to 1.5 metres.

Preferred growing conditions Likes loamy soil with full sun. Can tolerate drought and heavy clay soils.
Form Russian Almonds form a dense thicket with their upright branches and suckering root system.
Flower/seeds Abundant clusters of small pinkish flowers turn into oval-shaped tan nuts about 2 cm in diameter.
Leaf Russian Almond leaves are oblong-shaped, green, leathery leaves that turn orange in the fall. The may be 2 to 7 cm in length.
Bark/wood Bark is brown.
Berries Not applicable
Pruning Prune to keep shape. Watch for suckering.
