Sea-buckthorn
Characteristics
Height and Spread Sea-buckthorn can grow up to 4.5 metres in height and may have a crown width of 2 to 3 metres.

Preferred growing conditions Grows best in coarse-textured soils with full sun or light shade. Prefers lots of subsoil moisture but does not like to get water-logged or grow in ponded sites.
Form Sea-buckthorn branches spread out and open, creating an irregular rounded shape.
Flower/seeds Yellow flowers grow out from branches and later turn into leaves.
Leaf Sea-buckthorn leaves are narrow, with silvery-green scales that turn greyish-green in the fall. Leaves can be up to 7 cm in length and half a centimetre in width.
Bark/wood Bark is greyish-brown with thorns.
Berries Bright orange berries containing a seed appear in the fall and remain on the tree throughout the winter.
Pruning Prune to keep shape.
