Open-air plaza

Plaza facts:
- 75,000 square feet - roughly 1.16 football fields.
- 43,000 cubic feet of concrete
- 345,000 paving stones (81 shipping containers worth)
- 644 lights: 4 main lights, 33 decorative lights, 13 “living room” lights, 14 sunshade pole lights and around 580 twinkle lights
- 40 days to install the paving stones
- 40 days lost last year due to rain

Construction schedule:
The City has stepped up efforts to complete the project. Additional construction crews have been added onsite and the hours of construction have been increased from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. The new plaza is scheduled to open to the public in late July. As with all construction projects, the final schedule and completion date are weather-dependent.
May Concrete work, creation of a small retaining wall, remaining work on underground lines
June Installation of the main lights, shade screens and the smaller, twinkle plaza in the southeast corner of the plaza. Laying paving stones begins.
July Work on paving stones continues, and new grass and features such as benches and tables are added.
The plaza re-opens to people and traffic later this month.
August Finish any outstanding items (weather-dependent) and final site clean up.
