Understand Your Water Bill

Your water bill or statement contains information to explain how your bill is calculated:

  1. This area lists your water account number (required for online payments), as well as the property address for the water service.
  2. This area posts special messages that concern your account.
  3. This area identifies how much was owed on your previous bill, your payment and the date it was received, as well as your current balance owing.
  4. This area identifies what type of water service you receive, the number of days billed during this period, the beginning and ending meter readings for the period, and how many cubic metres of water was consumed during this period.
  5. The water charges area identifies the water meter’s size, illustrates how the Utility calculates your daily base charge for water for the period and identifies the cost of the water you consumed during the billing period.
  6. The sewer charges area illustrates how the Utility calculates the daily base charge for your sewer services and the cost for sewage that entered the system for treatment.
  7. The storm drainage charge area identifies the daily base charge (based on your property’s area) that is used to help handle precipitation that enters the sewer system.
  8. The current amount lists your total owning for the current billing period.  Other charges or adjustments that have been applied to your account will be listed here.
  9. Total Due represents the total account balance, including any balance carried forward from a previous billing period.
  10. This message let’s you know when your payment is due or if you are enrolled in our Equalized or Direct Debit program.
