Methods/Strategies:

  • Set: 5 mins. Introduce concept of the Big Blue Bin program. Define terms and basic principles of the Big Blue Bin program.
    • Ask for anecdotes from students (do you access the Big Blue Bins, do you use other bins, do you recycle, what happens to the paper, the end use.)
  • Development: Talk about the information that is communicated in the presentation.
    • 10 mins. Discuss the Big Blue Bin program, interaction and feedback. Students can investigate the amount collected, see city documents and the end result of the collection and re-use of paper and cardboard. The benefit to the environment may also be viewed.
  • Puppet-Show Presentation: 10 mins. Presentation provided by Street Culture Project.
  • Closure: 5-10 mins. Review Big Blue Bin program concepts and refer to the information that is available.
