Think Food (Grades 8-12)

Objectives:
- To introduce the basic concepts of the Think Food program

Prerequisite Student Learnings:
- some basic social values
- the concept that everyone should have a chance at a valued life
- some community-based programs that provide food to those in need
Methods/Strategies:
- Set: 5-10 mins. Introduce concept of the Think Food program.

- Define terms and basic principles of the Think Food program.
- Ask for anecdotes from students (What is the Food Bank? What does the Food Bank and other similar organizaton provide and who receives their services? How do they feel about society allowing people to go hungry and/or providing this service?)
- Development: Think Food presentation and discussion.

- 15 mins. Discuss, interact and provide feeback about the Food Bank program. Students can investigate the rationale behind Food Banks and other agencies. Perhaps take a tour of the Food Bank and become involved with their program either on an individual basis or as a class/school.
- Closure: 5-10 mins. Review Think Food program concepts and refer to available information.
