Learn about liability insurance
Film companies which use City facilities or City property for filming will be required to sign an Agreement which will include the following provisions:
The Licensee shall:
(a) release the City and its employees, agents and contractors from any responsibility or liability in conjunction with the death or personal injury of any person present at the Site during the License Period and any damage to or loss of property of the Licensee, the City or any third party caused by the shoot or any other activity of the Licensee and any third party that is present at the Site during the License Period;
(b) indemnify, hold harmless and defend the City from and against all claims, losses, damages, expenses, lawsuits or judgments arising from any injury of any other person or from damage to or loss of property of any other person alleged to have been caused by the Licensee’s use of the Site;
(c) ensure that it leaves the Site in the same condition as existed before the Licensee used the Site; and
(d) reimburse the City for any damage to or loss of property of the City, including damage to facilities and furnishings however caused, arising out of the use of the Site during the License Period.
(1) During the term of this Agreement, the Licensee must have and maintain policies of insurance, each in a form acceptable to the City's Risk Manager, that insure the Licensee (and anyone who has access to the Site at the Licensee’s request or acquiescence ) against:
(a) General Liability in an amount of no less than $2,000,000 per occurrence; and
(b) Automobile Accident Liability in an amount of no less that $1,000,000 per occurrence.
(2) The Licensee must provide the City with proof of the insurance in subsection 1 (above)
If you are a smaller production company, you can register an annual proof of insurance with Central Scheduling. This proof of insurance would be in the form of a general liability and automobile insurance document and vetting all your productions in one year. Generally, $2 million worth of liability must be covered by such policies. Contact the City’s Risk Manager at 306-777-7476 for questions about specific insurance requirements.
