6 city street sweepers, c 1970

6 street sweepers lined up in front of garage in summerWhen Regina was a new frontier town, there was no regular garbage pick-up. Instead, there was a refuse man who periodically came along, cleaning up garbage and clearing out privies. Regina residents began to receive more regular garbage collection and sewage removal starting in 1904 when construction began on a city sewer system.
