Preparation Underway for Regina City Council and School Board Elections
Information is now available online to provide candidates and voters with everything they need to know for the 2020 Municipal/School Board Election in November. Regina goes to the polls on Monday, November 9.
“We want candidates and voters to know that election preparation continues, and we anticipate the ability to vote in person in the fall, as usual, with appropriate precautions,” says Jim Nicol, Chief Returning Officer. Information will continue to be announced over the coming months and we encourage residents to visit Regina.ca/elections - an easy, one-step source of answers to any election-related question. Accessible web content is vital to ensuring candidates have information on how to run and eligible voters know where and how to vote.”
The site provides citizens interested in running for City Council or School Board Trustee with an overview of the election process in Regina and a summary of the steps required to run as a candidate. As candidates are approved over the official Nomination Period (September 22 – October 7, 2020), their profiles will be posted online under the ‘Who’s Running’ section.
Voters can visit to learn how to cast their ballots including voting options, eligibility, where to vote and identification required at the polls. On election night, citizens can follow live results on the site.
Election job opportunities will be posted in June for people 18 years of age or older to work at the Advanced Polls and on Election Day.
Elections Regina will take every precaution to ensure safe physical distancing and sanitizing measures are in place to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
