Anyone can Apply to become a Snow Angel Snow Angels Community Grant Now Accepting Applications
Spring has arrived but, as a Winter City, it’s never too soon to plan ahead for snow. The City of Regina is now accepting applications for the Snow Angels Community Grant which provides funding to develop and operate neighbourhood snow shoveling programs.
Anyone can apply to become a Snow Angel and support their community this winter including Community Associations, other community-based organizations, and even individuals. Successful applicants will create volunteer-based residential snow removal programs that match volunteers with residents in need including older adults and people with disabilities, reduced mobility or other barriers, and who also cannot afford third-party snow removal services.
The total funding available this winter is $75,000, up from $50,000 when the program launched three years ago. Applicants can request any amount up to a maximum of $15,000. Grant funding can be used to cover costs of equipment, liability insurance and other eligible expenses.
This year’s grant deadline is earlier than in previous years, to ensure successful applicants have time to prepare their program and recruit volunteers. The deadline for applications is June 16, 2022, at 4:45 p.m.
The Snow Angels program relies on volunteers. Residents who would like access to a Snow Angels program in their part of the city should encourage a local community group, service organization – or even an individual -- to apply for funding.
Successful applicants will receive one-time funding to run a snow removal program between October 1, 2022, and April 30, 2023.
