Artist in Residence Tipi Liner Opening
The City will host an opening for the tipi liner design by Artist in Residence Jori Cachene on Sunday, October 20 at 1 p.m. at the Neil Balkwill Civic Arts Centre, 2420 Elphinstone Street. Residents are welcome to attend.
The project was commissioned as part of this year’s Artist in Residence program. The tipi liner becomes part of the Civic Art Collection and will be used with the City’s 18-foot tipi to enrich cultural education and programing.
The City partnered with Sâkêwêwak Indigenous Artist’s Collective and Creative Options Regina Studio to deliver this year’s Artist in Residence project. The project, which ran through August and September, included the creation of the tipi liner design and public workshops to broaden understanding of regional tipi traditions and practices.
