Biweekly Garbage and Pilot Food & Yard Waste Collection Starts October 31
Residents will soon be rolling out their brown carts every other week as the City switches to the winter biweekly collection schedule. Green cart collection for residents in the food and yard waste pilot program will also move to every other week. Biweekly collection for these two cart collection services begins October 31, 2022, with weekly collection resuming April 3, 2023.
Residents can receive free reminders that tell them when garbage, recycling and food and yard waste will be collected. To sign up for notifications, visit Regina.ca/waste or
download the Regina Waste App.
Things to remember during the winter schedule:
- Garbage and food and yard waste pilot collection days remain the same
- Recycling collection schedule remains unchanged
- Weekly garbage collection will return over the holiday season from December 19 to December 30. Note that additional holiday garbage pickup does not apply to participants of the food and yard waste pilot service.
Biweekly collection right-sizes the services to meet the reduced winter volume of garbage and organic waste, with 81 per cent of pilot participants expressing support for this schedule adjustment. The City of Regina’s commitment to public engagement ensures residents have opportunities to shape municipal decisions that affect them.
The City is focused on waste reduction and recycling to help extend the life of our Landfill and protect the environment. Use the Waste Wizard tool on Regina.ca/waste to help put your waste in the right place.
