Broad Street – 8th Avenue
Starting on Tuesday, August 3, crews will continue replacement of the traffic signals at the intersection of Broad Street and the 8th Avenue. This project will be completed in phases, starting with the installation of signal bases, underground work, installing junction boxes, traffic controllers, and signal poles, finishing up with putting the traffic signals into operation.
Crews will be focusing on one corner of the intersection at a time, rotating through each as work progresses. Pedestrian access will be maintained. This work is anticipated to be completed in three days.
Starting at 8:30 a.m. each day, drivers may want to consider alternate routes as traffic at the intersection will be restricted as follows:
- Tuesday, August 3 – traffic will be restricted intermittently at the northwest and southwest corners.
- Wednesday, August 4 – southbound traffic on Broad Street will be restricted to one lane. In addition, westbound traffic on 8th Street will be detoured.
- Thursday, August 5 – southbound traffic on Broad Street will be restricted to one lane. In addition, eastbound traffic on 8th Street will be detoured.
