Brown Street – Dewdney Avenue to 7th Avenue
Starting on Monday, May 3, a Street Infrastructure Renewal project begins along Brown Street between Dewdney Avenue and 7th Avenue to replace sidewalks, pedestrian ramps, curbs and gutters, as well as resurface the roadway to improve drainage, extend the lifecycle of the road and create a smoother driving experience.
Work will be completed in two phases starting with the concrete replacement for phase one, then removing and paving of the asphalt road surface for phase two. The City will advise residents of phase two restrictions as the work progresses.
Phase one is expected to be complete in eight weeks. Drivers may want to consider alternate routes as traffic on Brown Street will be closed in one to two block sections at a time. Crews will begin at Dewdney Avenue and progress northbound to 7th Avenue.
This project is weather dependent.
The City of Regina is responding to residents’ priorities by investing $16.8 million for Street Infrastructure Renewal through the 2021 construction program. This program is primarily focused on improving major roads such as expressways, arterial and collector category roads.
The health and safety of our employees, crews and community are top priority for the City of Regina. We are working closely with contractors and crews to ensure pandemic protocols are in place so work can be carried out in a safe and timely fashion.
The City of Regina thanks residents for their understanding and patience. Slow down and be safe. Workers and their families are relying on you.
