City presents Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medals
Today, His Honour the Honourable Russ Mirasty, Lieutenant Governor and Deputy Mayor Andrew Stevens presented the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal (Saskatchewan) to 164 outstanding Regina residents in recognition of their significant contributions and service to the Regina community.
"I am grateful to the City of Regina for hosting a nomination process and award ceremony that have enabled us to honour generous and accomplished residents of the Queen City,” said Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty. “I congratulate each recipient on this well-deserved recognition, and I thank them for their outstanding contributions.”
The medal was unveiled in early 2022 to commemorate the unprecedented 70th anniversary of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the Throne as the Queen of Canada. Saskatchewan municipalities were allocated medals to award distinguished residents who, like Her Late Majesty, have dedicated themselves to community and to service. Medal recipients come from a variety of professional specialties and backgrounds, career stages, and volunteer efforts. Nominations were received until November 30.
“The City of Regina is honoured to join the Government of Saskatchewan, and many other municipalities and organizations, in recognizing the exceptional individuals who have contributed to building strong and vibrant communities,” said Mayor Sandra Masters. “We are thankful for each recipient being recognized today and for the legacies and positive impacts their service, volunteerism and philanthropies have made in our city, province, and country.”
Congratulations to all the recipients of the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal.
