Compost Your Pumpkins for a Chance to Win!
In accordance with health guidelines during the pandemic, including physical distancing, the City will not hold the Pumpkin Smash Event in 2020. But that doesn’t mean we don’t want to have a GREEN Halloween.
This year, residents that drop off their pumpkins and gourds at the Yard Waste Depot from October 30 to November 1 will be entered to win an Apple iPad and a waste reduction prize pack. All eligible residents will be entered in a random draw with the winner announced on Monday, November 2.
Pumpkins collected at the Yard Waste Depot will be composted at the City’s Food and Yard Waste Pilot processing site. By composting pumpkins, we are keeping waste out of the Landfill, reducing greenhouse emissions and creating a natural fertilizer.
Any pumpkin is can be dropped off as long as it hasn't been painted. Any decorations attached to one will need to be removed.
Please remember to keep a safe physical distance while dropping off waste at the Yard Waste Depot.
