Conference to Reimagine Sustainable Future for Cities
The City of Regina is pleased to announce that online registration for Reimagine Conference 2020: Roadmap to Sustainable Cities is now officially open to the public.
The inspiring and thought-provoking two-day conference will run May 20-21, 2020 at the Queensbury Convention Centre. Community leaders, elected officials, business and industry representatives will gather to create momentum in the areas of energy management and future sustainability.
Sessions on May 20 will focus on “The Art of the Possible,” while those on May 21 will center on the theme of “Reimagine”, as attendees look to new and emerging solutions.
“Planning this conference is a rewarding experience,” says Councillor Mike O’Donnell, a member of the Reimagine Conference 2020 steering committee. “We are thrilled to assemble such a diverse, international panel of presenters from both the private and public sector to discuss what sustainable innovations are currently being implemented in communities throughout Canada in addition to ideas that are worthy of exploring further.”
The proposed agenda for Reimagine Conference 2020 boasts notable speakers whose insights and experiences will advance the discussion on how to create and support sustainable cities of the future. The roster of keynote speakers includes:
- Patrick Moore, known as The Sensible Environmentalist and a former president of Greenpeace Canada
- Kevin Vallely, a world-class adventurer who successfully completed the first human-powered traverse of the Northwest Passage
- Nikolas Badminton, an award-winning futurist and researcher specializing in exponential technology including renewable energy, artificial intelligence and quantum computing
- Chris Turner, an author, speaker, and authoritative voice on sustainability and the global cleantech boom
The conference will also provide the unique experience of participating in Conversations Over Supper events at the end of Day 1, during which a limited number of attendees can sign up to talk at greater length with the keynote speaker of their choice.
Information shared at the conference will help guide the development of the City of Regina’s Environmental Sustainability Framework, which will provide a plan to reach City Council’s target of being a fully renewable city by 2050.
The cost to register for Reimagine Conference 2020: Roadmap to Sustainable Cities is $300. Visit Regina.ca/Reimagine to register and learn more.
