Conference to Support Regina’s Renewable Goal
From May 20-21, 2020, the City of Regina will host Reimagine Conference 2020: Roadmap to Sustainable Cities bringing together innovators, thought leaders, and industry experts to share new, emerging and best in class practices in energy management and environmental sustainability.
“We have set an ambitious target, focusing on City operations to become fully renewable within the next 30 years, and this will require thoughtful planning and intentional investment to achieve,” says Mayor Michael Fougere. “This conference recognizes the importance of strategic partnerships with our energy and business sectors, community leaders, and fellow municipalities. We hope to attract delegates from all areas to learn how we can work together with mutual goals of becoming more renewable and sustainable.”
Regina City Council has committed to being a 100 per cent renewable city by 2050. To achieve this goal, work is underway to develop an Environmental Sustainability Framework. The information shared at Reimagine Conference 2020 will help guide the development of the framework and will identify resources that enable all attendees to take action in advancing sustainable community initiatives.
“We want to think outside the box, have creative dialogue and reimagine communities of the future that are positively impacted by the implementation of renewable and sustainable practices today,” says Regina City Councillor Mike O’Donnell, a member of the Reimagine Conference 2020 steering committee.
A variety of keynote speakers and more than a dozen presentations are planned. Topics will range from renewable energy sources and energy storage solutions to discussions around sustainable infrastructure and autonomous vehicles. Online registration will begin in early 2020.
