Expressway lighting project to begin on Ring Road
Thanks to warmer temperatures and reduced snowfall this season, the project to install expressway lighting along the Ring Road between Wascana Parkway and Albert Street South will begin ahead of schedule on Monday, March 9. This project will improve visibility and safety for drivers on our road network and is expected to be complete by the end of July 2020.
Starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 9, drivers may want to consider alternate routes as underground utility work begins. Traffic will have a speed reduction in place starting with the northbound lanes, then moving to the southbound direction when complete.
Future phases will include installing concrete light pole bases, cabling, light poles and fixtures as weather allows, with most of the work taking place in the ditch. Drivers can expect periodic traffic restrictions and speed reductions to ensure the safety of drivers and workers throughout the remainder of the project.
The City of Regina thanks residents for their understanding and patience while this important infrastructure work is being completed. Slow down, plan ahead and be safe. Workers and their families are relying on you.
