Food For Thought: Artist in Residence to Explore Regina’s Cultural Identity through Food and Cuisine
The City of Regina, in partnership with Regina Farmers’ Market, is seeking a Regina artist for a five-week residency to explore the community's cultural connections to food and cuisine through the lens of a diverse number of Regina residents. The theme of the residency is "Food for Thought".
Through this Call for Artist, the City will provide a cultural platform for an artist to explore and learn about Regina’s cultural identity through stories, rituals and traditions relating to food within our urban community. The artist will be required to host at least two public engagement sessions at the Regina Farmers’ Market aimed at collecting personal experiences from the vendors and customers.
The artist will submit a completed artistic work at the end of the residency that will be accessioned into the City’s Civic Art Collection. Works could include, but are not limited to, a virtual cookbook, an artistic work representing the theme using materials of choice, or a video or photo journey of their experience.
Deadline to apply is August 8, 2022. Preference will be given to Regina, then Saskatchewan born or raised artists.
The residency will take place from August 29 until October 14, 2022, and operate out of the Neil Balkwill Civic Arts Centre.
