Free Grey Cup Bus Shuttles Move More Than 18,000 Festival Fans
As Canada’s biggest football festival rolled into the heartland last week, a total of 18,765 visitors and residents scored free transportation to all the fun by climbing aboard Grey Cup shuttle buses from Thursday to Sunday, all made possible by the Regina Hotel Association and Regina Transit.
Five dedicated Grey Cup shuttle routes serving 27 hotels hit the streets starting Thursday, with many more buses and additional routes added Sunday for the big game. On Grey Cup Sunday, 7,675 football fans used the shuttle buses. That’s more customers than for the 2022 Labour Day game.
"Residents and visitors were able to conveniently hop on any of the dedicated Grey Cup routes and head to and from the festival grounds at REAL district,” says Brad Bells, Director of Transit & Fleet. “In addition, the regular transit services residents depend on continued to run as scheduled over all four days, providing 68,000 rides to Regina Transit users.”
The City of Regina would like to thank the Regina Hotel Association for its investment in the Grey Cup Festival shuttle bus service. All costs of the shuttle service were paid by the Regina Hotel Association, ensuring that residents and visitors enjoyed a free, reliable, and safe way to get around the city, and to participate in the festival.
Regina Transit is an excellent way for residents to get where they need to be in a sustainable and safe way all year round. Visit Regina.ca/transit or use TransitLive.com to find information about transit routes and schedules.
